Enabling SAML Single Sign-On

You can enable SAML single sign-on for all role types (staff members, contributors, and attendees).

To enable SAML single sign-on in Engagez

1. Sign in as an admin to the venue where you want to set up SAML Single Sign-On

2. Navigate to Administer > Features tab from the Configure section

Click on Features

3. Scroll down to the “REGISTRATION AND SIGN-IN INTEGRATION” section

Click on REGISTRATION AND SIGN-IN INTEGRATION

4. Check SAML Single sign-on

Check enable_saml_sso

5. Click on the pencil on the right side of this option to open the configuration section.

6. Configure your Identity Provider with the given Single sign on URL and SP Entry ID. 

Click on IDP Name:…

7. If your Identity Provider (IdP) provides a metadata link, copy the link into IDP Metadata URL. (This is all that is required if you have a metadata link). You may also provide IDP URL, X.509 Certificate and optional Single Logout URL.

Sign-in and Sign-out Links

Engagez supports both Service Provider initiated as well as Identity Provider initiated authentication.

SIGN IN

https://www.engagez.net/saml_login/VENUE_ID

SIGN OUT

https://www.engagez.net/saml_logout/VENUE_ID

You can create HTML links or buttons that point to these URLs. If you have a custom URL configured, you may use your own domain instead of engagez.net.

User Attributes

Engagez expects certain attributes to be sent through the SAML assertion in order to properly create the user. Here are the required attributes:

Attribute

Description

name

Unique ID identifying the user. This is usually an email.

email

User’s email address must be unique

first_name

User’s first name

last_name

User’s last name

Engagez supports the following optional user attributes for signed-in users.

access_groups

A list of access group names as defined in the attendee access group management system.

photo_url

URL for a photo to set on the user profile. This photo will be downloaded and served from our servers.

organization

Company or Organization the user belongs to

job_title

User’s job title at the organization

industry

The industry the user belongs to

brief_bio

A brief bio that will be shown in the user profile

external_id

An additional ID that you would like to track users by
