Low Latency Streams
Low Latency Streams
When streaming into the Engagez Platform using an RTMP Endpoint there is always a delay. By default, this delay is anywhere between 30 seconds to a minute. If you decide to create a low latency stream, that delay will be significantly reduced to about 15 seconds, making live Q&A and audience engagement easier. Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to set up a low latency stream.
When streaming in low latency, there are optimal streaming statistics that should be adjusted in your encoder. Use the following settings when setting up the stream with your third party encoder for the best streaming quality.
|Inbound Bitrate: Actual||2558 Kbps|
|Outbound Bitrate: Actual||2444 Kbps|
|Outbound Bitrate: Configured||6696 Kbps|
|Frame Rate||30 FPS|
|Keyframe Interval||60 GOP|
Setting Up a Low Latency Stream
1. Click on Sessions in the Administer tab.
2. Click on Manage Livestream.
3. The Manage Livestream menu is where you will set up the low latency stream.
4. Click on New US to set up a new stream.
Note: only choose New US if you are streaming in the United States. If you are located elsewhere, choose either New Europe or New India, whichever is closer.
5. Next, type in a name for the stream.
6. Then, make sure to check the box marked Low Latency.
Warning: This can not be undone or changed once the stream is created. We recommend to have a back up stream created prior to the event that is not Low Latency in case of any streaming issues.
The Low Latency stream is now created. If you go back to the Manage Livestream menu, you can find the stream information by searching the dropdown menu.
Once you have found the stream, you can get the RTMP Encoder Connection Settings by clicking the Encoder Connection Settings button.
Then, you can view the RTMP Connection information you need to stream from a third party provider.
